It is an undisputed fact that nitro RC cars are a lot of fun however if this is to your hobby then you will need total commitment to them as they will require plenty of your time to fix them, clean them and maintain them in total working condition. To be honest this need not take long to learn and with these few following tips you should be able to ensure your nitro RC car will always work correctly and will always produce its best performance.

Primarily you must realise that several adjustments will need making whenever you purchase a new model. The model may come with full details telling how to make the RC car run properly and it may even be a pre-factory set but you will still need to do some fine-tuning on a regular basis. Fine-tuning just involves turning the needle a mm counter-clockwise each time until the car is running as smoothly as you want.

Breaking in the engine of your nitro RC cars will involve running, say, the first half dozen fuel tanks at a slow pace for several minutes each run. Whilst this is happening you must also ensure that the body shell is removed to enable the air to continue flowing and the engine remains cool.

Furthermore consider ensuring that the car is kept at half throttle but without using full throttle otherwise the engine could receive damage and the cars performance would be limited. Be patient and just remember that it is bad for the engine to get very hot. It will be worth it in the end.

Finally make certain that you check and double check all the screws in your car from time to time. Each and every screw has to be screwed on tightly otherwise if they become loose it could result in a badly functioning RC car. Screws can loosen so be prepared. Some small parts can be lost because you do not check enough or properly and the result is a search for spare parts for your car. This is all unnecessary hassle due to your failure to perform this simple job. A screw locking compound would be good recommendation.

There are a large number of nitro RC cars to choose from in today’s market and the best thing is they all remain fast; some are very fast in fact. Some models can reach up to 70 miles per hour and perform jumps and flips simultaneously. Irrespective of what kind of car you eventually get you will find it a fantastic and fascinating hobby.

If you are an absolute beginner to the world of Nitro RC Cars then experts will advise you to fully consider an electric powered radio controlled car. These are the most popular type of car to start with for mainly two reasons, speed and battery life. There are other factors to take into consideration so let us take a look at the experts reasoning.

Firstly is speed. All kids want to go as fast as they can to outdo their mates and show off their new toy. Since the development of brushless motors the RC car industry has been totally revolutionized and the choice of RC cars fans has completely changed. These cars have high performance and deliver far more RPM per volt. They have hardly any maintenance problems but still only consume the same amount of fuel as the pre-brushless motors did. A finely tuned electric powered car can manage up to 30 or 40 miles per hour on a hard flat surface. Its speed is dependent upon on the weight and the battery charge and the type of car it is. A monster truck for example can run on virtually any type of ground whereas a racing or sports RC car needs a flat hard track to perform on properly.

Secondly there is battery life. Your electric powered RC car will in all probability be powered with a lithium rechargeable battery. They are very compact but still have ample power to give the car between 15 and 25 minutes of play on full speed. The actual battery run time will be dependent upon several features such as doors, alarms, radio etc. These features will deplete the battery and cause a faster draining of the power. One excellent reason for purchasing an Electric RC car is certainly its battery power. It is completely free of hassle and is simple to charge, saving you valuable time having to buy fuel as you would need to do with a petrol RC car.

Apart from its advantages under speed and battery life as described above electric powered RC cars are not so noisy when in use. This is due to their being powered by a sophisticated electrical motor. This motor has been designed for a better performance whilst making less noise which in turn means that electric cars can be used indoors and not cause too much disturbance to others in the home. Petrol RC cars have a small engine inside them and can make irritating noises which can also be fairly loud at times.

Selecting an electric powered RC car can of course be considered environmentally friendly and it would still give you plenty of speed and power. You can also stay in when it rains and still enjoy your car.

Many of us consider that an RC helicopter is a basic toy designed only for children. How wrong can we be? These machines are loved by children of all ages and this includes Mums and Dads!

Before you dive in to the world of RC helicopters it is necessary to understand what your money is being invested in. You need to find out where you can purchase a model that suits your requirements. Planning is essential and professional assistance and knowledge all worth their weight in gold when deciding on the right RC helicopter for you and your family.

It is reasonably straightforward to find RC helicopters for sale but the real challenge is deciding whether these models are suitable for you. RC helicopters are on sale in all reputable model stores and of course there is a myriad of choices via the internet. You will be met with an abundance of information that will probably overwhelm you to start with but with patience you can carefully browse through the sites and see the various options available to you. Most sites will contain RC information per se with Cars, Planes and other sections of the RC world but there are some sites purely for helicopter enthusiasts. Online auction sites are another source for you to consider.

When you are shopping for your RC helicopter you must make yourself fully aware of the number of options available and the relevance of each. These helicopters are available in different price ranges depending on their individual features and sizes. A large machine will obviously require more fuel as opposed to the smaller models which run on batteries. The amount of your investment should be guided by how interested you are in this hobby of RC helicopter flying. Part-timers should buy a small and less costly model but it is of course down to the individual to make their own choice in the matter.

Always buy a copter that is suitable for the issue in hand. In other words if it is for a child’s birthday or Christmas present then the perfect choice would be a small, battery powered model. If you intend to take this flying up as a serious hobby then a more powerful one would be required.

It should go without saying that a machine that is easy to understand and fly is ideal when you are learning the ropes. Any crash with a small machine would not hurt the pocket as much as it would with a large model that you had still not mastered properly. Once you have mastered the basic knowledge then you can easily move onwards and upwards to the next tier of RC helicopters with more confidence.

You can have tremendous fun with flying RC helicopters but do your homework before investing. This will save you an inordinate amount of time and possible disappointment.

Around the middle of the 1960’s brushless motors became commercially available in the world of RC models. From that date onwards they have revolutionized every sort of industrial and mechanical industry.

They have become very prevalent in the RC car and truck world and due to their much higher efficiency and power they are speedily becoming the standard for the industry for electric RC models. Their power is so great that that until 2006 they were in fact illegal for usage in officially sanctioned RC races. Have you ever wondered how they actually work? A small explanation may be necessary here.

An electric motor basically is a rotating bar containing an electromagnet that is positioned between two stationary magnets. Turn the electricity on and a magnetic field is created causing the electromagnet to spin. It has a maximum spin of 180 degrees before the electromagnet needs to switch polarities.

A brushed system contains small brushes that come into contact with electrodes in order to flip the electromagnet’s polarity. Therefore despite it being an electrical system the polarities changing is done mechanically.

A brushless motor is virtually the reverse of a brushed motor. With a motor the electromagnet is situated on the sides of the motor and the magnets are on the rotor itself. A computer then controls the motor rather than utilising the brushes for mechanical control.

A brushless motor really has many advantages. A motor that has brushes will make quite a noise and is less efficient and less powerful. It is more likely to overheat and can wear out much quicker. Basically brushless motors are so much better with the only downside seeming to be that they are slightly more costly initially.

So having learned all of this what effect does it have on RC cars and trucks? To start with it means power. A brushless motor will produce far more power and consequently your RC car will go so much faster. Their efficiency is also far greater and they are able to power a vehicle for a longer period using the same battery than a brushed motor will.

It’s a fairly obvious statement but one of the main reasons for the reliability of brushless motors is that you do not need to replace the brushes because there are none to replace! Maintenance is far easier as they do not overheat. Their lifetime is very long as only the bearings will ever need replacing. The brushed motor will suffer burn out fairly quickly and will need replacing.

The only real disadvantage as we have already alluded to is the cost. Initially they will be dearer than the brushed motor and they run far more efficiently on LiPo batteries. These work out quite expensive and will take longer to charge. You will also require a balance charger and these can be pricey. LiPo batteries can also explode if they are overcharged. This type of battery is not necessary for these motors but is definitely recommended by experts.

Another minor drawback with brushless motors is the higher learning curve required. Their programming is required and beginners can find this to be somewhat difficult.

If you are a beginner or someone on a reasonably tight budget you may prefer brushed motors simply because of the cheaper price. Otherwise a serious RC hobbyist and an experienced one should make the changeover to a brushless system. In time to come all brushed motors will be replaced by brushless ones. The latter are definitely the motors of the future.

Its coming up for Xmas 2010 and we have decided to upgrade PetrolRCCars.co.uk to offer a superb range of Nitro RC Cars to hobbyists in the UK at great prices with a range of discount codes on offer.

Nitro Cars such as the Condor and Warrior have become extreamly popular for both beginners to the industry but also the those who have been racing RC Cars for a while, usually with the electric variety. Upgrading the to Nitro range can be quite daunting but also very exciting at the same time due to the complexity of building a nitro car, buggy or truck.

On our homepage we will be offering the best sellers of 2010 at low prices with many more to come in 2011 but more importantly a range that have become very popular during the year just gone with people already Christmas shopping for a range of remote control cars for both friends and members of the family.

Electric RC Cars have come along way over the last few years with Electronic Control Units giving the higher spec cars more control over acceleration but with Nitro cars giving a superb degree of performance for those who are more serious about the RC hobby we all love and know.
